Dear Aunt B,
I want to go back to school. Is there an age when you are just too old to learn new things?
Back to school
Dear Back to school,
Absolutely not, it is never too late to learn. I love learning and don’t ever plan on stopping.
There are so many avenues and ways to learn now. Have you decided on a particular topic to study? Are you learning just for the fun of it or are you wanting to study something to start a new career? Deciding what your end goal is a good place to start.
Depending on how old you are there are colleges that offer some free tuition to individuals age 65 or older, some even younger. Just call the colleges around and check to see what it takes to qualify.
Have you ever heard of The Great Courses? You can buy individual programs on just about everything. They are taught by popular college professors. They have a program called Great Course Plus where you can pay a monthly fee and have unlimited access. I just love it.
There is another fabulous program called Master-Class. It offers over a hundred classes across 11 categories. Examples include Gordon Ramsay and other famous chefs on cooking to Serena Williams teaching tennis. So much more than I can explain here. It is available for a monthly fee as well. I believe you have to pay annually but right now there is a special two for one offer.
Whatever mode of study you decide upon, go for it. There is something so exhilarating about learning new things.
If it has been awhile, brush up on your study skills. Set up a schedule for your studying. If you are out of the studying habit, it can be easy to let the work get the best of you and you can get behind. Set up a great workplace to do your studying. Good lighting is essential.
One of my favorite things in September is all the school supplies. It may seem silly but get yourself some great school supplies.
Love,
Aunt B
