In the Gospel of Matthew 22:14 Jesus said that “MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN”. Of course He was talking about people being called to receive eternal life and go to Heaven.
Who are the called? I cannot believe that Jesus would pick out certain people that He liked and call them and leave the rest to be condemned. I think the truth is that the call goes out to the whole world. All people on the earth are called and invited to believe that Jesus died on a cruel cross to pay for the sins of all people and believing in Him will provide eternal salvation for them. Now it is time to find out how the people are chosen to receive eternal life.
Who are chosen? One example is if there were 1000 people hearing the true gospel by preaching or witnessing, and 50 of them believed the message and came forward to receive forgiveness of their sins and salvation, those are the ones who would be chosen. People’s goodness or good deeds are not acceptable to GOD to receive eternal life. We all live in a sin cursed world with no way out except through Jesus Christ. He paid the price and made a way into Heaven to live eternally with Him. The name Jesus is of the earth, and Christ is of Heaven. That makes a road from earth to Heaven. There is just no other way.
BOTTOM LINE: Many people have tried to find another way to Heaven, but no one has ever found one. When people are told they are sinners and must come to Jesus for forgiveness it takes away all our goodness. The masses have always rejected that…..AMEN
