The last weekend before school starts on Monday, August 16 is directly in the front windshield. However, the teachers in Forney ISD have been going at it since August 2 and the new teachers have been involved since July 26. So far the reports on their activities have been awe inspiring already--these people are getting ready to have the best year ever!
The bonding exercises that the schools have created for their teachers are really fun and seem to be working. The team of teachers for a respective grade and school are so very important to the mental health of the teachers as they become a true team for each other. When this bonding occurs, everyone is a winner. The model that teachers give to their students inspires the students to look at school and their time there as a collective whole and enables them to be better students and citizens of their school environment.
The Forney Education Foundation is also getting ready to gear up for the annual Fall activities--Founders’ Drive, Teacher Donations, and Grant Funding. This is a very event -filled time of year but most of the support for the Foundation can be handled in an online visit to the Foundation’s website.
The Grant Committee is already looking ahead to Adopt-A-Grant as well as awarding the grants not adopted by the Friends of the Foundation. We also know that the vision that the Founders had is basically still the same--give a hand up to graduating Seniors and enable underclassmen to get help in their classrooms and plan ahead for their respective futures.
