My wife and I have been subscribers of “E! Terrell” ever since being high bidders for a season pass at the Forney Chamber Auction a few years ago and were very disappointed when the productions came to a temporary halt as the result of the “pandemic.” However, we are thrilled that once again, things are back “up and running,” as of the music/comedy presentation by the “Atlantic City Boys” on July 15 at the Terrell ISD Jamie Fox Performing Arts Center on Poetry Road. This presentation was actually one of two “make-ups” for patrons who had paid for season tickets for the 2019-2020 season that was suspended with two shows remaining! All tickets were honored, and a full-house showed up “cheering and roaring to go.”

Vivian and I arrived about thirty minutes early and had a hard time finding a parking place, telling us that things were back to normal with very high attendances for every event! We walked to the front doors, were met by some attendants, holding open the doors, and some passing out “theatre booklets” and directing us to remaining seats. It was so good to see many, many other area “young folks” like us there to clap and sing along!

The “ATLANTIC CITY BOYS” are four dynamic LEAD SINGERS who have come together to blend their multi-talented voices and musical abilities, with each one taking the “lead microphone” for parts of the show, which features “rock-n-roll” harmonies of The Drifters, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, and others. Unlike in “Jersey Boys” shows, each of these vocalists has time at the “lead mic,” and each has more than one style of presentation.

Members of the “quartet” are E. Michael Evans, Dustin Fisher, Jeremy James, and Sammy Pawlak, and when we visited with them in the lobby area after the show, we found them to be even younger than we had thought from the audience seats level. (There were several “teens/twenties/thirties” fans who just went crazy over them as they posed for photos!)

I tried to keep up with the songs they sang. Here goes! “Oh, What a Night,” “I’m a Believer,” “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Build Me Up, Buttercup,” “Who Loves You, Pretty Baby,” “It’s All Right,” “My Eyes Adored You,” “In the Jungle, the Lion….,” “Oh, Carol” “Up on the Roof,” “Sweet Caroline,” “Barbara Ann,” “Bye, Bye, Baby,” “Just Hang On,” “Rag Doll,” “Save the Last Dance,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Do You Want to Dance,” and “In the Still of the Night.” They filled the show with music and frivolity!

Oh, yes, we always purchase “refreshments” and make donations at the concession stand, which is staffed by volunteer Terrell High School Theatre Students. They handle lighting and sound engineering at the performances free of charge to help them become more professional in their training. This has been the practice since 2003!

As we entered the Center and later, we visited briefly with Martha and Mollie Kasper, Don and Cheryl DeJong, Cary and Judy Griffin, Mark Duckworth and Laura Ivie, and Suzy McCook—Judy Jedlicka— Vivian Yancey—Sondra Perry—Ann McDonald, all DKG Members.

On August 19, 2021, “The Everly Set” (“Walk Right Back,” “Cathy’s Clown,” “Take a Message to Mary,” etc.) will be the 2nd (final) make-up show from the 2019-2020 suspended season. And everybody of my age and a little older will surely not want to miss them. If you are not one of the earlier lucky ticket holders, maybe you can still find one or three available!

The first NEW SHOW for 2021-2022 will be presented on 9/9/2021 and will be a “Salute to Glen Campbell.” I think there are still season tickets available for this new season. HHUURRYY!
