While I’ve always thought of the “dog days of Summer” representing the period of stagnation or inactivity due to the hot, sultry weather that typically occurs between July 3 and August 11 (2021), it actually goes back to Ancient Greece. It’s the part of the year that Sirius, nicknamed the Dog Star, has its annual rise over the horizon in the Northern Hemisphere. My own dogs have been showing that both definitions are accurate--but Forney ISD and the construction companies aren’t letting the heat slow them down. They are finishing three new schools--Griffin, Jackson, and Rhodes--that will be opening this fall!

The employees of FISD aren’t worried about the heat either. Staff meetings have begun in the district, with new teacher orientation taking place as well as inspiring meetings for the various district-wide departments. The principals in the district are meeting with their staff and planning for that important day-- August 16, the first day of school in Forney ISD. Parent Teacher Organizations at the various campuses are also planning how they will be able to help their students and teachers have a terrific year. And the teachers have all begun to look ahead to the upcoming year and how they can enhance the learning for their students. These are the times that the district teachers who are aware of the Teacher-Requested Grants that the Forney Education Foundation funds began looking for opportunities for their students.

Forney Education Foundation is also planning for the next year and how FEF can continue to light the way for innovation and learning in Forney ISD. Please help us help the students in Forney ISD reach for their own stars by visiting www.forneyisdfoundation.org to see how easy it is!
