“Well, no one told me about her/The way she lied/Well, no one told me about her/ How many people cried.
But it’s too late to say you’re sorry/How would I know?/Why should I care?/ Please don’t bother trying to find her/She’s not there.
Well, let me tell you ‘bout the way she looked/The way she’d acted, the color of her hair/Her voice was soft and cool/Her eyes were clear and bright/But she’s not there.
Well, no one told me about her/What could I do?/Well, no one told me about her/ Though they all knew.
But it’s too late to say you’re sorry………..”
This was the debut “single” song by a British rock band, called “The ZOMBIES.” In 1964 it made it all the way up to #12 in the United Kingdom Singles Chart and even higher in the United States and then in Canada at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100! Rolling Stone Magazine’s Greatest All-Time 500 Songs later listed it as #297.
The 1960s band—THE ZOMBIES—was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, with a mu sician, named Colin Blunstone, as its lead singer and with great songs, such as “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” “You Make Me Feel Good,” “The Way I Feel Inside,” “Leave Me Be,” “A Rose for Emily,” “Care of the Cell 44,” and “She’s Coming Home.” Their induction came, fittingly, on the 50th anniversary of their classic, “Time of the Season,” first hitting #1 on the American charts! The “Zombies” were the 2nd
U. K. band, following the “Beatles,” to score a #1 hit in America.
Unfortunately, at least so it would seem for the band, they “split apart” at about the same time that their #1 hit was flying high!
Blunstone, a rather modest guy who was quoted once as saying, “You’ve got to be grateful for any success that comes your way!” was born in 1945 and later had a successful career as a “solo” singer—1972 era and on—“Say You Don’t Mind”—“What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted?”—“Old and Wise.” Success was resurrected at the beginning of the New Millennium with Still Got That Hunger.” And the “Zombies,” with Blunstone and band, ARGENT, now that they are here again (2015—“New York,” “Moving On,” “Now I Know I’ll Never Get Over You”) have great plans for the future!
“What’s your name?(What’s your name?)/ Who’s your daddy?(Who’s your daddy?)(He rich?) Is he rich like me?/Has he taken?(Has he taken?)/Any time(Any time)/(To show) To show you what you need to live?
Tell it to me slowly(tell you what?)/I really want to know/ It’s the time of the season for loving.”
The “ZOMBIES” are real and always in season! Isn’t that right, Chester?
