Probably you, just as I, have been guilty of singing along with songs on the radio, at church, in an eating place, or blaring from a loudspeaker and not quite knowing all the words and just doing your best to give voice to what you THINK you have heard or always known. Or, maybe you have heard your child or friend or acquaintance do so. Take a look at some of the following admitted mistakes!

2) Bon Jovi—“Living on a Prayer”—It doesn’t matter if we’re naked or not—“It doesn’t matter if we make it or not.”
3) Johnny Nash—“I Can See Clearly Now”—I can see clearly now, Lorraine is gone—“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone.”
4) Fifth Dimension— ”Aquarius”—This is the dawning of the age of asparagus—“This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.”
5) Bob Dylan—“Blowin’ in the Wind”—The ants are my friends, and they’re blowin’ in the wind—“The answer my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.”
6) Kiss—“Rock and Roll All Nite”—I want to rock ‘n’ roll all night and part of every day— ”I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day.”
7) Bob Marley—“Stir It Up”—Cereal, little darlin’, Cereal—“Stir it up, little darlin’, stir it up.”
8) Creedence Clearwater Revival—“Bad Moon Rising”—There’s a bathroom on the right— “There’s a bad moon on the rise.”
9) Elton John—“Tiny Dancer”—Hold me closer, Tony Danza/Count the headlines along my way— “Hold me closer, tiny dancer/Count the headlights on the highway.” 10) ABBA—“Dancing

14) Bruce Springsteen—”Blinded by the Light”--…..he was blinded by the sight/cut loose like a moose/another runner in the night—”…..he was blinded by the light/cut loose like a deuce/another runner in the night.”
15) Taylor Swift— “Shake It Off”—bakers gonna bake, bake, bake, bake, bake—“fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake”
16) Starship—“We Built this City”—We built this city on sausage rolls—“We built this city on rock ‘n’ roll.”
17) The Eurythnics— “Sweet Dreams”—Sweet dreams are made of cheese—“Sweet dreams are made of these.”
18) The Beatles—“Lucy in the Sky”—Lucy in disguise with diamonds— “Lucy in the sky with diamonds.”
19) Uncle Kracker— “Drift Away”—Give me the Beach Boys and free my soul—“Give me the beat boys and free my soul.”

Now, maybe some of you/us can sing along with the sound systems in vehicles a little better when we listen to the “oldies” stations! I hesitate to tell you that “Rocket Man” by Elton John found me singing along with—”She packed my bags last night by light.”--…..”Rocket man burning out of use up here from home”—“I miss the earth so much, I miss my life/alone in outer space.” But that was a very long time ago! Now, I think I know the real words!
