The City of Forney is set to host its annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 3, at Forney Community Park. An event that draws crowds of residents and out-of-town visitors alike, this yearly tradition will continue this summer, bringing a free family-friendly event to the area.

Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm with free bounce houses, hosted by the City’s partner on the event Community Life. Outdoor games, such as cornhole and oversized Jenga, will be provided by the Forney Parks & Recreation Department. And, of course, the playground and splash pad will be available, with the splash pad open until 8:00 pm. Though no live music is on the schedule this year, attendees can enjoy the DJ while visiting the many food vendors who will be on site. Signature Concessions and JBW Vending will both offer their specialties: fair foods such as fresh lemonade, cotton candy, corn dogs, potato twisters and funnel cakes. Misty’s Sweet Treats will offer an assortment of cakeballs with cake fla vors like red velvet, vanilla, chocolate, lemon, and Oreo. Chicken and fajita tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and freshly made salsa will be available at La Rosita Food Truck. The Itis Food Truck will offer foods such as burgers, hot dogs, po’ boys, birria tacos and catfish baskets. Big D Kettle Corn will also be there with kettle corn varieties, and Stash’s Smokehouse will have BBQ and beef jerky. Several other food vendors are expected to be in attendance as well.

While the food for those in attendance is sure to please, the main event will be the fireworks display that wraps up the night. Visible from all open areas at Forney Community Park, the nearly 30-minute show is set to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Each year, eventgoers are mesmerized by the display which ends with a spectacular Grand Finale provided again this year by Extreme Pyro.

Guests are encouraged to come early to find the best spots to park and set up to view the fireworks. Tailgating is allowed, though the most spacious viewing areas will be found on the soccer fields and surrounding areas. Forney’s Police Department will provide security and traffic control for the event. Visitors should plan to enter through the main park entrance at 241 S. FM 548 and will be routed to leave through the exit at Justice Center Lane between the Spellman Amphitheater and the Forney Justice Center.
