Government mandates and coronavirus shutdowns across America led to an economic disaster last year. In the first few months of 2021, we seem to have turned a corner. The economy is growing, and people are back to work thanks to the easing of COVID restrictions in places like Texas.

The federal government should be encouraging businesses to hire new employees and open their doors for full service. It should also be saving every dollar possible after spending trillions to keep the country from collapse. Instead, President Joe Biden thinks more wasteful spending will save an economy that is already roaring back.

Having already spent $2 trillion on a wasteful, unnecessary coronavirus-relief package to bail out leftwing states like California and New York, President Biden sees an opportunity to spend even more. He has proposed an additional $4 trillion in other government spending plans from environmental projects to social welfare. These plans are a far-cry from the policies he stood for when campaigning as a moderate Democrat last year.

To pay for these programs, President Biden will use borrowed money that will add to our national debt and a massive tax hike to take $2 trillion out of our economy. The impact of his plans to our ongoing rebound will be devastating. Prices of everyday items like milk and eggs could soar as the dollar loses value in the global economy. Wages of American workers will fall as businesses slash budgets to pay newly levied taxes. Many jobs will be lost as companies pick up and leave for more competitive business environments.

All these problems would come about because Joe Biden was trying to help the economy. Sadly, he never learned the lesson that the best way for government to help American businesses is to sit back and let them do what they do.
