From ceremonial ground breakings to official doors opening, Forney ISD has been very busy with creating classrooms. The starting of construction for Jerry and Helen Griffin Elementary School, Tim Rhodes Intermediate School, and Tony Jackson Middle School began in August of 2020 and they are projected to open their respective doors to students for the Fall of 2021 right on time. And the work continues this spring: the groundbreaking ceremonies for the Forney ISD Aquatic Center and Don R. Willett Elementary School happened in April, 2021 and the groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus for O.B. Johnson El ementary School took place in early May, 2021 with the openings for these facilities expected to take place in 2022.

The number of students in Forney ISD is predicted to grow 90% over the next ten years, and the student population to reach 20,000 students by 2026. The most important aspect of this growth is to maintain the high quality education that FISD has become known for and to continue the tradition of innovation in education. And that is where the Forney Education Foundation can assist the teachers, students, and staff maintain the levels that have been reached through innovative education and helping career and training education.

As the focus of the Foundation has shifted--from post high school college scholarships and teacherrequested grants, then to dual credit scholarships, and now to teacher-requested grants and AP/CTE reimbursements--the students and teachers in FISD have risen to ever higher levels of innovation and education. We must remember that education is not only book learning but all the other aspects of life skills including practical learning of skills such as welding, culinary arts, and medical skills.
