“Here we go again,” say both the believers and doubters—just for differing reasons! A person, who states he/she has researched for several hundred hours to find herbs that can work against Covid-19, says that one particular herb is now being used in Thailand for “treatment.” That same researcher says that the same herb has been used successfully for “hundreds of years for a number of ailments, including colds and flus.”

A responder stated that Herbal-Gram (journal) in early 2021 reported that Thailand’s government had approved a “pilot study” of Andrographis in late 2020 to treat SARS-CoV-2, and that it will be used on “mild COVID-19 infections” in a trial study or studies. However, neither “stater” above reported any good or bad effects, and the conclusion was for none of us to rely upon any “plants” (herbs) to treat a potentially deadly infection!

*Note* Andrographis paniculate has actually been used in “ayurvedic medicine” for years and years in medicines that try to fight a number of ailments, including flu and cold symptoms!

**Note** Ayurvedic Medicine defined: a natural system of medicine, originated in India more than 3,000 years earlier, that is derived from the Sanaskrit words, “ayur” (life) and “veda” (science or knowledge)—KNOWLEDGE OF LIFE…..This brings us to the “theory” that “Disease is due to an imbalance or stress in a person’s consciousness and should be cured by certain lifestyle interventions and ‘natural therapies’ to regain a balance between/among body, mind, spirit, and environment.”

It is one of India’s “traditional” health care systems still today and combines PRODUCTS (mainly derived from plants but may also include animals, metals, and minerals) DIET,

EXERCISE, and LIFESTYLE.

***There is little scientific evidence to show AYURVEDA’S value for health issues, except for possible relief from minor pains and minor diabetes in some cases. But, there is mainly “anecdotal evidence” proand-con for both sides of the issue!

****Herbal remedies and supplements have long been taken to treat various and sundry ailments, and some folks tout what they use or have used as “miracles!”…. .....but….. HEALTHLINE. COM makes this recommendation. “Everything has to be taken with an understanding that we don’t have any data with the coronavirus…..and now is not the time to start experimenting ‘on your own.’”
