Why didn’t Jesus give humans something to “DO” to obtain eternal life? As a silly example, suppose Jesus had said “go chop down a tree and you will be saved and go to Heaven when you die.” Some people are crippled and could not chop down a tree. Some people do not have arms and could not chop down a tree. There are many other conditions that would keep people from obeying that command from Jesus. Large companies would control all the trees and would charge more than most people could pay. The list would go on and on.
Jesus knew all of that, and told people the one thing He requires for them to receive eternal life is to believe in Him and trust Him with their lives. That command does not leave out any person out on the face of the earth. When Jesus died on the Cross He paid for every sin that has been committed from Adam down to the last person to sin. That means that anyone who will call on Jesus’ name and repent of their sins will have all their past sins blotted out and never be remembered again. The one thing that many people believe is that if they come to Jesus for salvation He will take away their fun in life and make them live a life of sadness filled with troubles. That is so sad and certainly not true.
BOTTOM LINE: It is not easy to win someone to Jesus Christ for salvation, but when we do, Angels in Heaven rejoice over them………..AMEN
