The City of Forney continues to search for creative new ways to support its residents and the local economy. Earlier this month, the City launched a new program that brings attention to our local businesses using a facet of life that many people encounter countless times a day: digital media.
Forney’s Social Media Specialist, Zach Smith, is heading up the project. By creating short professionalquality videos featuring business owners, their staffs, and the entities themselves, the goal is simply to use the online presence of the City of Forney to highlight and boost businesses within the city limits.
While there has always been unwavering support from the City for our local organizations and companies, the continuing global pandemic has heightened the awareness of many when it comes to the need to shop locally and support small area businesses. “During these unprecedented times, it’s crucial that now more than ever we help our local businesses,” Mayor Mary Penn comments. “Anything we can do to highlight our many great businesses is a positive for our community.”
Smith says all types of businesses are eligible for this opportunity, at no cost to the business, as long as they are based within the Forney city limits. As he and his team film each video, he plans to have a few questions to encourage business owners as they introduce the community to what exactly their company does. He also plans to use video clips of the business in action when possible, customizing each short video to the type of organization being featured.
“Businesses are the backbone of our community,” Mayor Pro-Tem Shaun Myers notes. “It’s important to me that the City of Forney support them in any way we can, and I am excited to be a part of that support.”
With filming for the first businesses slated to begin this week, each feature will be created on a first come, first served basis. Interested parties should visit www.forneytx.gov/featureyourbusiness to sign up. Because of the anticipated response, businesses can expect a short wait for the City to contact them for an appointment for filming. However, Smith assures that each interested local business will be contacted.
According to the Vision Statement for the City of Forney, “Forney is a vibrant hometown community of opportunity and connectivity without limits.” This new venture is one of many ways the City is working to keep this vision our local reality.
