Countless men and women have joined the United States Armed Services throughout the years, contributing to the freedom and protection of our country. Each sacrificing their time and comforts, and many sacrificing their very lives, these brave individuals have taken time away from their homes and families to ensure the safety and basic liberties of people around the world. For hundreds of years and through numerous conflicts, the United States of America has remained a model of military excellence.
For the past five months, it has been our privilege to highlight a local veteran in our Salute to Service section each week. This very special section features a brief profile of a serviceman or woman who currently lives in or has ties to Forney. We have shared the stories of men and women of all ages who have served in all branches of the United States Armed Forces. We have met veterans who served as long ago as World War II, people who currently serve, and everyone in between. Our hope is that this section will serve as an opportunity for the community to get to know the heroes among us, and it is our simple way to say thank you for the jobs well done by each of these men and women.
After an overwhelming response from the community at the beginning of this special section, we are now seeking more nominations of local veterans. If you have served our great nation and would like to be featured, or if you would like to nominate a veteran to be featured, it would be our pleasure to do this. Please send the veteran’s name and contact information to news@forneymessenger.com, and we will reach out to schedule an interview.
As citizens, we strive to show gratitude for those who work to protect and defend our rights. We are excited to continue to introduce these veterans to our community and give all Forney citizens an opportunity to thank these men and women for their service. Veterans, it is our honor to share your stories.
