Opening new buildings for students’ extracurricular activities is always an exciting event. And this school year, Forney ISD has enhanced the school experience for students involved in Agriculture, Culinary Arts, and Welding and Fabrication. The CTE students have been doing great things with FISD’s resources, proving that talent and skill will bring rewards in the form of a business that brings profits back to the welding program enabling even better learning and future career prospects.

On Thursday afternoon, January 28, 2021, at 4:30 p.m., Forney ISD will hold a ribbon cutting for both the Welding and Fabrication Department and The Local, the new Culinary Arts Cafe at Forney High School. This new venture joins the enhanced Agriculture/Animal Science Building at North Forney High School. The great thing about these projects is that they give our students practical life skills in fields that interest them and that can translate into early employment.

Forney Education Foundation has always understood that the focus has been on the future for the students in Forney ISDstarting with post-high school scholarships, then adding teacher-requested grants, and then changing over to dual-credit scholarships. With the addition of the Adopt-a-Grant program in 2019, the Forney Family joined in the joy both of funding grants and of improving the classroom experience for the students at all grade levels.

Because the teachers at both high school campuses have requested grants that directly impact these programs, FEF and the Forney family have funded ideas that have directly enhanced the futures of many, many students that have walked through the doors of Forney High and North Forney High.
