With the 87th Session approaching, democrats have been filing anti-gun bills like House Bill 196 that aim to amend a section of the Texas Penal Code known as the “Castle Doctrine” by reducing the rights of Texans to defend themselves and their property.
I strongly oppose this bill and its attempt to take away our Second Amendment rights. I will work to ensure this bill does not become law and will always fight to protect our Constitutional right to defend ourselves!

A-F Ratings Paused for the 2020-21 School Year On December 10th, the Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath paused the A-F Ratings for the 2020-21 School Year due to the on going disruptions associated with COVID-19.
Earlier this month, I spent time at the Capitol to place the House District 4 Christmas ornament on the House Christmas Tree. Art Teacher Rose Steele at Athens High School hand-painted the Athensinspired ornament incorporating iconic buildings, monuments and images that reflect the community.
