DELBERT DURWOOD HENDON was born May 6, 1937 and passed away January 2, 2021 at the age of 83. He had lived in Forney since the age of 2 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Forney.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 - 1959. Durwood owned and managed several businesses in Forney and retired as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Viola Hendon, one brother Edward Lee Hendon, and 3 sisters Dephine Townsend, Eloise Kvapil and Joyce Sifford. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Betty Venner Hendon, sons Curtis Hendon and his wife Bonnie of Ben Wheeler, Darrel Hendon and his wife Kelly of Post Oak, step daughter Tina Holt and her husband Devin of Rockwall, step son David Tune of Terrell, grandchildren Dara Hendon and Clay Hendon, Danielle Quinones and husband Ricky, Jessica Cash and husband Hunter, Harrison Holt, Michael Tune, Whitney Morales and husband Josh, Reese Tune, great-grandchildren Allison Tune, Kenlee Williamson, Emersyn Morales and Camden Cash, brothers-in-law David Townsend and George Venner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Max Slayton Funeral Home, Terrell Texas. The family will have a private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.maxslayton.com.
