Randall Lloyd Martin, 83, of Mesquite, TX 75150, died December 12, 2020 at 9:07 a.m. while hospitalized in Mesquite with Covid complications. Randall was born October 18, 1937 in Wills Point, TX to William Carrol Martin and Fairy Eldis Kemp.
Randall married Peggy Joyce Tillis Martin on July 12, 1957. She passed June 24, 1990 after 30+ years of marriage. Randall served his country in the Army from 1960 until 1962 and left the U S Army with a rank of Sergeant. Following his military service he joined Dallas Power and Light that ultimately became TXU-Texas Electric Utilities and he quickly became the Dallas Downtown Building Manager.
Some years following his late wife’s death, Randall chose to take an early retirement and explore other professional opportunities, eventually establishing R L Martin Enterprises. Under this license, Randall worked as an insurance inspector reviewing risks for underwriting exposures.
Randall had two hobbies most dear to him: photography and storytelling. He enjoyed entering State Fair photo Contests, and enjoyed recognition from the Mesquite Parks Department for pictures taken in local parks.
Randall was a light and a smile and walking kindness. The world was made better because Randall lived here in the physical. As his wife, my world and my life were blessed because Randall loved not just me, but life itself. Randall practiced what he believed to be his purpose in life: Performing a random act of kindness every day.

In addition to the named individuals, Randall’s passing leaves holes in the hearts of too many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends to list; among them, Peggy Marie’s sons: Gene, Wayne, Jimmy and Jerry Lloyd and Barbara Nell’s daughter, Lori Lynn - to whom he spoke almost every month just to see how she was doing in Birmingham. Special friends are too many to name, but must include Richard Beene and Joretta Wade. The three of them worked together at DP&L through TXU for many years and, even today, they still got together to share birthday lunches and memories every year. Not a month went by without phone calls, laughs and sharing friendship. Reverend Ron Wright, Willie Shepherd, Jerry Wallace, Archie Johnson, Willie Don Franklin and the list goes on - I don’t even know the names - I just know my phone has been ringing to say Randall will be missed - is missed!
In lieu of flowers or donations, our family requests that you continue his legacy of looking for opportunities to be kind and to perform a random act of kindness every day.
