One of the absolute best days that occurs in Forney ISD happened Wednesday, December 9, when the Grant Train rolled through Forney ISD to all the campuses that had submitted requests. There were many first time recipients and there were many multiple time recipients--but even if this wasn’t the first time for those teachers, their joy at receiving the funding was as exciting and genuine as it was the first time!

The Forney Education Foundation Board works diligently all year to raise enough funds to be able to fund not only these grants but all the other programs that are a part of the Foundation’s program of work. The opportunities to visit with the community and tell them the Foundation’s story are very rewarding for the Board members as it reinforces the “why” for the members.

This year’s grant reveal was different due to COVID. Instead of entering the schools and arriving at the classrooms, the teachers met the FEF Board members in the front of their schools to receive the good news that their grants had been funded. And the smiles were just as big as in years past on both sides.

Looking through all of the funded grants guarantees that the future in the classrooms for Forney ISD is going to be a bright one. These professional educators have asked for a diverse range of tools to maximize the abilities of their students to prepare them for their future as well as some to help identify students’ needs earlier than ever before.

An invitation is extended to the Forney Community to participate in any of the future activities that the Forney Education Foundation is hosting this next year starting with the Casino Night in early February. To see who FEF is and what FEF does, please go to www.forneyisdfoundation.org .
