Mrs. Rose Steele, Art 1 and Sculpture teacher at Athens High School, painted this year’s House District 4 Christmas ornament, which was placed on the House Christmas Tree on Saturday, December 5, by State Representative Keith Bell. After researching Athens’ monuments, buildings, and history, Mrs. Steele hand-painted the ornament to portray many of those important aspects of the city. A University of Texas at Tyler and Arlington graduate, she has now taught at Athens H.S. for 8 years, sharing her love of art with countless students. When she is not teaching or creating artwork, Rose and her husband Zach enjoy time spent together with their daughters, Etta and June.
