Forney, Texas – The Forney High School Band completed the month of November by winning a number of awards at various competitions across the North Texas area on their way to winning the Area Championship.

The band’s first competition was held on Nov. 7 at the Mesquite Marching Festival. The band received unanimous superior ratings from all of the judges and then continued their march towards the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region III Marching Contest.

On Nov. 18, bands from all UIL divisions across the North Texas area traveled to Memorial Stadium in Mesquite to compete in the UIL Region III Marching Contest. Again, the Forney Band received superior ratings from all of the judges. With the superior ratings in the Region III competition, the Forney High School Band qualified for the Class 5A, UIL Area C Marching Championships.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, the FHS band once again travelled to Mesquite Memorial Stadium to compete in the UIL Area C Marching Championship. The Forney High School Band finished the competition with their best performance of the year, earning first place and the first UIL Area Championship in school history.

The Forney High School band is led by Cody Newman and assisted by Erin Funk and Riley Warren, Shannon Jacobs and Casey Snead.
