Wednesday, November 11, was a big day for two of Forney High School’s senior softball players. Vanessa Hollingsworth and Savannah Hughes gathered with family and coaches at the Forney Community Softball Complex where they signed their National Letters of Intent to play softball in college.
Hollingsworth and Hughes both joined the Jackrabbits Softball Program at the beginning of their high school careers, have given their all to the game all four years, and were both members of the State Championship team in 2018. “Coming in as freshmen, Vanessa and Savannah have made a huge impact on the Forney Softball program,” FHS Coaches Pat and Michelle Eitel commented. “Both ladies were big contributors in winning the 5A State Title in 2018.”
Hollingsworth has signed her Letter of Intent to join the team at the University of Missouri. She is the daughter of Kenneth and Valerie Hollingsworth. “Vanessa is the best third basemen in the State of Texas and proved it with her amazing plays in the Championship Game,” her coaches said.
Henderson State University is gaining Hughes as a center fielder. Her proud parents are Jimmy and Mechelle Hughes. “Savannah is an incredible center fielder,” Coach Eitel remarked. “She anchored a very talented outfield with her leadership and play.”
Coaches Pat and Michelle Eitel are extremely proud of the girls and their accomplishments over the last several years. “Both ladies will be a great addition to Missouri and Henderson State,” they said.
Congratulations to these two excellent athletes on this milestone in their softball careers!
