Family gatherings are different in 2020, but memorymaking is still occurring no matter if there are 2 or 8 at the table. Once the meal is complete and the dishes are done, the feelings of home, hearth, and family will be bathed in the rosy afterglow of another holiday celebrated. Forney ISD will be on holiday until Monday when teachers and students will again take up the tasks of teaching and learning. Both of these activities will occupy many hours for all of them as well as their respective “support staff”, para-professionals, administrative positions and the all important position of parents.
With the excitement inevitably building to the Christmas Holiday season, it can be difficult to keep focus on what is important when all of the activities and festivities begin-even in this pandemic-affected year. The desire for a normal holiday season is strong but sometimes different traditions can be born out of what is thought to be un-normal times that are actually more impactful in positive ways. Everytime there has been one of these types of events--the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918, the Great Depression, World War II, the Energy Crisis of the 1970s--among many others, people have adapted and survived the different life pattern that emerges once ‘normalcy’ happens.
What does this mean for the Forney Education Foundation? It means that as a support player for the Forney ISD, FEF will continue to do all it can to help light the way for education and learning. Because of the amazing support of the Forney Community, the teachers and staff can ask for grants to be funded through the Foundation and, because of Adopt-A-Grant, through the community directly. The understanding and support of not only parents and community members as well as corporate sponsors, Forney Education Foundation is looking forward to elevating the students in the Forney ISD to the best they can become.
