A few weeks ago, we attended our first movie since the advent of stringent COVID-19 precautions. We were pleased with the theater’s adherence to rules and even “going the extra mile” to keep patrons safe, and we suffered no adverse reactions. So, we decided to try it again!
My wife studied the possibilities for viewing an interesting and suitable selection and one that matched our ticket guidelines. She found several and decided upon 2 HEARTS, a love story as I could tell by her heartfelt description, and the storyline sounded at least semibelievable to me—“couples (college student with a classmate and a Cuban exile with a flight attendant) ‘falling in love’ in two different decades and in two differing places, but with a hidden connection.”
Oh, did I tell you? It actually is based upon a TRUE STORY.
The show is rated PG-13 for a little strong language, but we really felt it could have done just as well with PG! The running time is one hour and 40 minutes, and it goes by pretty quickly; so, it must have been interesting with sufficient action for me to admit the “quickness.”
There are not actors/actresses whom I recognized, although some did look familiar, so I will not bore you with names. But, famous or not, they did great jobs!
Suffice it to say that in this offering there are true loves that don’t always come easy, and the loves are true and not infatuations. There is overwhelming generosity and goodness of hearts and minds. There is more than one journey, essential to a good story, according to literary standards.
There is extreme sadness more than once, and I will admit that my wife “teared up.” She will promise you that her husband did the same, just a little more subdued!
I would tell you the story ends “happily-ever-after,” but you might not believe me, either before or after the movie—or both!
And was there a “miracle” during the journey? If so, just what defines a MIRACLE? That is what you can decide after you view!
Though the “professional critics” did not rate this “flick” very highly, audience ratings I have searched gave it a resounding B+. I will agree, although it is a little overly sentimental at times. My wife, giving me “that look,” states emphatically that this movie deserves very definitely an “A.” I will agree that as far as interest and humanitarian goodness, she is exactly right!
If you watch and listen closely, you will see/hear a relation to the Bacardi Rum family—if you know what that is!
And, you may even be prompted to take action after you leave the theatre! I am proud of you if you do!
