The Professional Bull Riders World Finals: Unleash the Beast tour came to Dallas this past weekend. If you were like this writer, you may not be familiar the PBR. After the weekend not only did I become familiar, I became a fan. I came to believe that this may be the “most difficult individual championship in professional sports”.
The PBR World Finals might be described at the World Series of Bull Riding. The riders vying for the title of World Champion were from the United States, Canada, and Brazil. At the end of the 4 day event, a new World Champion would be crowned based on a season long point system. There would also be a winner of the Finals Event. A new Rookie of the Year would also be named. Finally, there would be a bull named “World Champion Bull” of the year.
Jose Vitor Leme captured the 2020 PBR World Championship title. Leme went home with the gold buckle and 1 million dollars. Leme is a native of Brazil and currently lives in Decatur, Texas. Leme is the 7th Brazilian to claim the title.
Boudreaux Campbell won the 2020 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast event title propelling him to the 2020 PBR Rookie of the Year. He will take his winnings and titles home to Crockett, Texas.
In the PBR the bulls are also stars and have their following. This year, Smooth Operator won the YETI PBR World Champion Bull title and a $100,000 bonus.
This year’s PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast event was fun and entertaining. It was a top shelf show a universe away from the first rodeo this writer attended as a small boy in Cooper, Texas.
