Susan Carol Ray Rauh, of Forney, passed away on November 12, 2020 at her home. Susan was born Jan. 31, 1953 in Lake Charles, LA to T.J. and Ruby (Brown) Ray, both of whom preceded her in death along with her grandparents, William and Bertie Mae Brown and Lonnie and Melissa Ray and her husband, George “Gene” Rauh, Jr.

Susan graduated from Glen Oaks High School in 1971 where she was a Pantherette on the Glen Oaks HS dance team. She then attended University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette where she was again on the dance team, the Sweethearts. Her love of dancing led her to begin her collegiate major in Choreography however, she had a love for helping others which led her to change her major to Psychology. While living in Germany, she took courses through the University of Maryland where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Susan would then continue her education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she graduated with her Master’s degree in Social Work. As Susan’s dedication to her education grew, so did her calling to help others. She fulfilled her passion as a Social Worker all over the country including Louisiana, Florida, Washington, Alabama, Texas, Alaska, Oklahoma and finally coming back to Texas where she became employed with the VA Hospital in Dallas. Her ability to determine the best treatment and resources in helping others made her an invaluable asset to the VA’s care for veterans and their families. She enjoyed the patients and her coworkers so much and was content to stay until her retirement. While she was young, Susan enjoyed swimming along with dancing and music. Later in life, she stayed active and looked forward to shopping, antiquing, church functions and fellowship and watching sports especially her sons and grandchildren on the field. Spending time with her family was Susan’s favorite time and took every opportunity to catch up on all their activities and their lives both in person and with comforting phone calls in which no detail was too small to be celebrated and remembered. A wonderful mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Susan’s legacy of unconditional love to her family and her generosity to others will be a legacy each person will always remember and carry on into future generations.

Susan is survived by her sons: Keelan Bubb and wife, Heather and Terence Bubb and wife, Peggy; grandchildren: Madalynn Bubb, Zayren Bubb, Sahara Dawson, Westin Bubb, and Kylie Sewell; step children Shane Rauh, Laura Andrews, Annie Allred, Eric Rauh, Kate Rauh, and children; honorary daughter and son in law Deanna and Tim Sewell; sisters: Donna Kimbell, Gail Dignam and husband, Michael, Jane Bernard and husband, Sardy, Angelia Cambre and husband, North; cherished dog, Little Bit as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
