Nine area sewing students received award ribbons at the recent State Fair of Texas Creative Arts Competition. Despite regular fair festivities being canceled for the year, the Creative Arts Competition was one of a few events to still take place.
Local seamstress and sewing instructor, Dian Wade, had a total of nine students enter items, all winning various ribbons for their entries. Participating students were Connie Taylor, Rachel Lynch, Tamra Chandler, Kari Campbell, Shari Huffman, Becca Howard, and Kyndall Hughes.
Two students walked away with blue ribbons. Ten-year-old Kyndall Hughes won a blue ribbon with a patchwork blanket that she entered, and Becca Howard also achieved a blue ribbon for her chenille pillow. In all, Ms. Wade’s students brought home 18 ribbons – 2 blue, 4 red, 3 white and 9 honorable mentions.
