The road goes on forever they say. And if you have the right companion along, the many miles seem short compared to the distance to the destination. The road a graduate in Forney ISD travels is as different for each student as their own personalities.
The teachers and staff in FISD have also experienced their own unique roads through their years of life. Some of them have traveled their entire work roads in Forney ISD, some have exited the road after a few years, and some have merged onto the FISD highway from other districts bringing those experiences to the classroom.
Regardless of where a student’s educational path starts, the beginning of the journey greatly impacts how the whole trip is handled. Kindergarten sets the tone and those teachers that teach it often describe it as a calling. And for good reason--kindergarteners are often energetic and enthusiastic as well as entertaining story tellers! Elementary and Intermediate students start the real business of learning- English, Mathematics, Geography, Reading, Science, Music. And the teachers have requested many wonderful grants from the Forney Education Foundation through the years to supplement and enhance the learning experiences for their students.
Middle School brings new challenges to the types of roads FISD students travel. The professional educators know that these students still need help even if they themselves don’t recognize it, and their teachers are there giving “travel tips” to guide them down this new highway. And just like highways everywhere, there are many roadside attractions to distract students from the pathway to finish up middle school on the best route for them.
As students enter High School, the end of this road is just 4 short years away. In Forney ISD, students choose the particular pathway to guide them toward a career or educational choice. All the students graduate in one of 3 main categories: career ready, work and learn, or college bound. FEF has funded many varied grants that have straightened the curves and smoothed the road for students.
If you are the person who can help level the road for students in FISD, won’t you join the Forney Education Foundation in funding grants and reimbursing professional certifications as well as Advanced Placement tests? Please go to www.forneyisdfoundation. org and see how much of an impact you can make for a student’s trip.
