In every election, lines and wait times seem to be longer, particularly in Forney. If everything goes right, this election will be better. Kaufman County Commissioner’s Court has added two new voting locations at the FISD Administration Building, and at the Trinity Church in Talty. Officials in the Forney Sub-Courthouse have worked with Election officials to create more space for Early Voting and on Election Day. So hopefully lines will move quickly with more locations to vote early.
Another thing that will help things run smoothly is if everyone will respect the rule that inside the 100 foot marker from the door, electioneering is not allowed, including wearing hats, shirts, stickers, buttons etc. with a candidate, party or a political message.
Please, Please, Please, if an election official asks you to put your hat in the car, or turn your shirt inside out, they are just doing their job, protecting the integrity of the election. Be polite and comply with the rules. If you have a question if something is political or not, wear something that isn’t political.
If you see someone in line wearing something political, politely tell the election judge.
