Crosstown rivals are the norm in most towns and Forney is no exception to the natural pride that students and alumni feel about their schools. But instead of the annual football game between Forney and North Forney being touted as a rivalry, it has been the Unity Bowl since the first time the two schools met on the gridiron. The highlight of the halftime is the combined performance of both school’s drill teams to the delight of the crowd.

The idea and purpose of the Unity Bowl fits perfectly with the Forney Family ideology. As has been demonstrated by events in the past, when their fellow citizens need help--whether it be cleaning up and re-building after a tornado or celebrating Christmas early for a small child who is not going to see the holiday, Forney steps up in a big way. Even when shelter was needed on short notice for people fleeing flood waters from Hurricane Katrina, Forneyites opened their hearts and welcomed these new citizens into their homes, and Homecoming activities.

Forney Education Foundation knows the importance of community, too. Because of the Forney Family, FEF has been able to continue supporting the students and staff in Forney ISD. The Foundation already knew how amazing the teachers in Forney ISD were and, after a Spring that completely changed how school was being taught basically overnight, these professional educators once again showed how good they are by rising to meet the challenge of a complete change to virtual learning. FISD Family came together like a true family does when times become difficult by finishing the school year for their students in a positive manner.

If you haven’t experienced the fellowship of being a member of the Forney Family, the Forney Education Foundation invites you to join with other members of the Forney community and support the students and staff in Forney ISD. Please go to www.forneyisdfoundation.org and join the family!
