With much consideration given by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the University Interscholastic League (UIL), and Forney ISD, varsity football games will begin for both the Forney High School Jackrabbits and the North Forney High School Falcons. Games begin tonight, Thursday September 24, with the Falcons traveling to play against Frisco Lone Star and will continue tomorrow, Friday September 25, at City Bank Stadium with the Jackrabbits vs. Whitehouse High.
Public entry will be allowed through prepurchased tickets via the campus athletic websites, www.jackrabbitathletics. com and www.falconathletics.com. The district is enforcing social distancing protocols at the events, which will cause limited availability. Those seats that are available will be purchasable by sections, leaving an allotted amount of space empty to achieve the new preset capacity due to COVID-19.
Families of students who participate in the football program, band, drill team, cheer, etc. this season will be given early access to a set number of ticket purchases each week through use of an access code provided by the District. The general public will then be able to purchase remaining seats as long as availability allows.
In addition to social distancing, the district encourages everyone in attendance to wear a mask when they are unable to maintain distance from anyone who does not reside in their houses with them. And of course, please opt to cheer from home if you have (or if someone you have been in contact with has) shown symptoms of COVID-19.
For those unable to attend the games, you can follow the teams through livestream audio and video football coverage on Sportsgram.net each week or read the Forney Messenger’s game coverage in our weekly sports section. Any questions relating to ticket sales can be directed to the appropriate campus’s athletic office.
Though this year continues to be unusual in most ways, our Forney Family can still support its home teams. Good luck to the Falcons and Jackrabbits on this upcoming season!
