Teachers are a really determined group of people, always working to improve their students’ education. Not only do they have a passion for the knowledge they have learned, they also want to share this information with the students that come into their classrooms. And when the school year begins, there is a fresh bunch of faces waiting to learn from their new teacher. Even though the 2020-2021 school year is different from any that have come before it, the teachers in Forney ISD have risen to the challenge, as they did in the spring when every class went to a virtual learning style.
One of the ways the Forney Education Foundation supports the teachers in Forney ISD is through innovative teaching grants. The teachers look for grant opportunities and then submit them for consideration to be funded by FEF. Some of the grants that have been awarded in the past include classroom library books and large screen chromebooks, an autopsy mannequin and practice arms to learn to take blood pressure, funding for both intermediate schools to have coffee carts run by students, and cooking utensils for elementary Special Education students to learn math skills as well as life skills.
