Everett “Leon” Jones, of Forney, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 22, 1933 in Liberty Grove, Texas to the late Everett C. and Etta Lois Dove Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Earnest Mc-Claughry, J.C. Jones, Troy Jones, Fayne Jones and Billy Gene Jones, sisters: Marie Lindsey, Inez Massey and Evelyn Costa.
Leon was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge. On August 16, 1952 in Rockwall, he married the love of his life, Peggy Croxton, and together they had a wonderful life filled with love and faith. Leon was an active member of First Baptist Church of Forney and member of the Believers Class. Leon started his career as a cabinet builder, then became a draftsman working many years for Otto Coerver. He loved to fish and hunt, but had a passion for woodworking and could be found in his shop working on different projects.
Leon is survived by his loving wife Peggy Jones of Forney, brother, Wayne Jones of Heath, sisters: Ima Jo Boss of Rockwall and Louise Moore of Sachse, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family, church family and a host of friends. Funeral service for Leon was Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Forney in the Forum. Family received friends beginning at 10:30am. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney.
