In a letter to the Forney City Council dated August 10, 2020, Council Member Mike Thomas tendered his resignation effective immediately.
Thomas, who was appointed to the position of Council Member Place 1 in January 2019 to fill a vacancy at that time, stated in his letter of resignation that it is now time for him to shift his focus. “We (Thomas and his wife, Cyndi) are trying to cope with this pandemic situation as best we can,” he wrote. “After much thought and discussion, I have decided to step down from the place 1 seat of the city council so that I can keep my focus where it should be, on my family and my business.”
