The announcers spotlighted JULIO FRANCO!
Body

What with the political scene, the Covid Virus, the shortened season, my regret at the desertion of a “young park”, and no fans in the new park, I said: “I am not going to watch the opening game for the Rangers and their new stadium!”

However, my wife turned on the game and made me watch with her, or “something” like that!

The Rangers won; Odor drove in the winner; Lynn pitched a partial game masterpiece; LeClerc did not “blow” the save. I have to admit that “it was pretty good.” I especially liked the “trip down memory lane,” when a highlight reel focused upon one of my alltime favorite players—JULIO FRANCO.

Let’s journey back several many years ago, when my son, Waylon, was a mere tyke and had invited some of his friends to go to the Ranger game for (I think!) his birthday celebration. We were sitting there, and the guys were getting restless. I decided to “try to light a spark” of baseball interest by saying, “Hey, you guys, you had better pay attention to this next batter—JULIO FRANCO.” And then I pointed to an exact location in a deep area of right-center field and stated matter-of-factly, “Julio Franco is going to hit a home run to that exact area, so you had better be looking there while he is batting (next).” Guess what?
