Most FANTASTIC Basketball I had ever seen!
Body

It was during the late 1950s, and I was out on the driveway “shooting” at the goal on the heavy wooden backboard my Dad and some family relatives had built and nailed into place onto the “across the front of the garage” roof gable 2” by 8” mounting planks.

I went into the house for a cold drink of water from my personal ½ gallon Karo syrup “water jar” that had its own place in the refrigerator. I stepped into the living room for a moment on this Saturday afternoon and saw that Dad “had on” a basketball game between some all-Negro (as we said in those days) team and an all-White team (Washington Generals)—and the “Generals” were handily losing and could not keep up with the “fancy dribbling, sensational passing, flying dunking, long shooting, prank playing HARLEM GLOBE-TROTTERS.” I sat down and did not miss a single play or prank until the last second ticked off the clock.
