North Forney baseball began last season with high hopes. Led by nine talented seniors, most of whom had multiple years of experience playing at the varsity level, and one year removed from their first-ever playoff appearance, all signs pointed to a successful run into the 2019 UIL playoffs.

However, while they won 20 games for the first time in school history, they could only muster an 8-4 District 13-5A record, and a thirdplace finish. Their eight district wins came against four teams with a combined record of 35-74. North was swept in their season series against both secondplace Mesquite Poteet and district-winners Forney before being swept out of their bi-district playoff series by Corsicana.

Following the season, North Forney found themselves looking for a new head baseball coach when Zach Geer abruptly left the school.

To fill the void, Forney ISD and North Forney selected Tommy Sparks, a coach with over 20 years of experience to lead the team and begin rebuilding the baseball program. Sparks, who lives in Rockwall with his wife, Amy, and their three daughters, brought with him a long history of success, in several classifications, in his stops at Collin and Dallas County schools.
