Donald Louis Cairl (Don), 75, passed away February 25, 2020, from complications from surgery. He was born on July 29, 1944, in Inglewood, California, to Louis Lawrence Cairl and Mildred Elizabeth White Cairl, but lived most of his life in Texas. He is preceded in death by both parents, a few aunts and uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annette King Cairl of Forney, a son, Sean Michael Cairl of Oregon, an aunt, Dorothy White Borchardt and a cousin, Lisa Borchardt Brillante, both of New Mexico.
A memorial celebration will be held at the First Baptist Church in Forney, Texas, on March 6, 2020, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel.
Don graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, and got a BA in English from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He went on to get an MA in Philosophy from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He and Annette moved back to Forney, Texas, in 1971 with their infant son. He worked a variety of jobs but retired from Dallas County District 2, where he worked as an office manager.
His great love was to be outdoors in God’s creation, whether it was sailing, camping, hiking, tending his animals, gardening, creating something useful out of discarded things, or sitting on the bank of the pond watching the waves and water birds.
