**Various folks have asked me questions the past few years. I will try to answer some of them to the best of my remembering or “looking up.” Please, be tolerant!**

SOUTHLAND ATHLETIC MANUFACTURING COMPANY: This business was organized in 1946 by James M. Warlick of Dallas, Texas. Established in Forney, Texas, Production Facilities remained there until June of 1953, when the plant was moved into a remodeled Terrell, Texas, warehouse (formerly occupied by the Mayfield Grocery Company) at the intersection of the T&P and Texas-Midland Railroads.

It, at times, employed more than 75 people in Terrell and continued to be managed by members of the Warlick Family and was known for nationwide distribution. Many early Forney women were “seamstresses and/or office workers there, and Luke Shipley and Paul Themer of Forney were instrumental in running the plant. Nora Clark, Nettie Tune, Lorene Parker, Dorothy Morgan, Faye Morton, Corine Thomas, Ruth Cannon, and Ruby Lewis are names I think I remember at times riding with Dad to work at the Terrell location.
