Saturday evening, January 4, and the Texas A&MCommerce campus was still on Semester Break and rather cold and fairly empty; however, both Lions Basketball Teams were full and hot and raring to showcase their skills!
Side-kick, Harry Power, and I strolled briskly through the field house entryway, checked credentials at the office, spoke briefly to the Women’s Athletic Director, picked up programs and found our usual favorite seats on the “ETSU Student Section side and three rows behind the media table, where Evan Luecke was hard at work, covering the game’s highlights, and looked around the gymnasium to try to locate our buddies, Sam and Derryle, of the Alumni Office. The next several hours were full of basketball!
The Women Lions “ran over, around, and through” their Midwestern State Mustangs opponents with scoring by quarters: 20—17, 35—12, 26—17, 26—24. The final score was 107—70, and brings their season record to 13—0 and their Lone Star Conference leading record to 7—0. Their 8th Place National Ranking should also be improving with the next posting!
