Back when I was a mere child in Forney, I already knew I lived in FOOTBALL COUNTRY, as “old men” discussed the upcoming prospects and then the outcomes of games as the season(s) progressed and as they religiously “walked the sidelines” while the games were being played! And when we travelled to other towns, they had “Heard of Forney, because of the Jackrabbit Football Teams.” But, the Rabbits played all the other sports, too, and were pretty all-around good at each of them! And I loved going into the “old gym” at what is now the Administration Building and seeing the scoreboard that read, “Class of ’45” and getting “drinks” at the concession stand, and watching the lady Cheerleaders cheer for the Varsity Boys after their own game was over, and going onto the stage at the ends of games as Dad talked to one of the coaches about uniforms.
