Body

You cannot glance at anything remotely referencing pop culture right now without reading the term VSCO girl. Apparently, it’s a trend with teenage girls that involves a very specific wardrobe style, certain accessories, and even a dedicated language. It’s very confusing. Most trends, for instance, the 90’s high school girl phase, have cafeteria options. In other words, you can pick and choose to adapt the trend to your lifestyle and budget. When my daughter was a little 90’s girl, we didn’t spend money on the pantyhose choker look. We just went and bought the pantyhose and made them ourselves. Likewise, I couldn’t afford to replace her Adidas every time her feet grew. We bought the Payless version. Her brothers called them Fadidas, as in fake Adidas. It didn’t matter if your body glitter came from Limited Too or if you slathered your body in hair gel and let your mother gently dribble real glitter onto you while you pirouetted to the sounds of Groove is in the Heart. If your end game had glitter, you were good. Not so with this VSCO thing. It’s brand exclusive. No name, no game. But wait, what in the heck is VSCO and why so few vowels? Pop culture reporter, Dina, at your service.
