NFHS varsity football
On paper and on film, North Forney’s final week matchup against Sulphur Springs seemed to be an easy one. The Wildcats went into the game at 1-8, their only win an early season 32-13 victory over Forney, and had lost four straight. The Falcons, 6-3 going into the game, were riding the wave of a threegame winning streak and were playing their best football of the season.
However, after last season’s game, when a threewin North Forney fell behind 17-0 before coming back to stun the playoffbound Wildcats, 39-17, there would be no givens.
Like last season’s game, the Falcons were down early in this game, allowing an easy touchdown on their first defensive series. They gave up very little else in their 70-13 rout of the Wildcats. The 70 points tied the school record for points scored in a game. The Falcons last hit the mark in their 70-65 win over Wylie East in 2017.
