On Thursday October 31st, the freezer at the Forney Food Pantry suffered a mechanical issue, which caused the freezer to stop working and the pantry to lose all of its frozen food items. With the upcoming holidays, the freezer was stocked with 170 turkeys, 30 cases of fish, 40 cases of chicken, and 30 cases of eggs. None of those items could be saved.
The Forney Messenger has paid to have the freezer repaired and donated funds to replace 75 of the spoiled turkeys. The Forney Food Pantry began supplying those in need with Thanksgiving meals on Wednesday November 6th, so they are in desperate need for the community to join the effort to restock the freezer!
