The Forney Messenger has learned a package store permit was issued earlier this year to RAS Trading Inc. Documents obtained through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission website show license number P1043133 was issued on January 23, 2019. According to TABC License and Permit Descriptions a permit starting with the letter (P) is a package store permit. A package store permit “authorizes the holder to sell liquor, malt and vinous liquors on or from licensed premises at retail to consumer for offpremise consumption.”
The address for the Johnnie Wine liquor store is 11511 FM548, corner of FM548 and Pecan Street across from Overland Grove and Grayhawk. This property is outside the city limits of Forney. The city of Forney has no control of permits issued outside of their city limits. Kaufman County was in control of the permitting process.
