The North Forney Falcons began the 2019 football season winning three straight games, against teams that most would agree are not playoff bound, by a margin of 39 points. They scored no less than 45 points in any of those games. And then, the Falcons ran into a trio of big cats. Losses to Ennis (Lions) and Corsicana (Tigers), before a surprising defeat to a solid Greenville Lions squad that played a near perfect game, left the Falcons 0-3 against that feline family.
A homecoming week date against the winless Kaufman Lions seemed to be a perfect opportunity to end that streak and get the Falcons in the district win column again. It was. The Falcons dominated the hapless Lions from the opening kickoff, scoring on their first offensive and defensive series, on their way to a 48-20 win.
North Forney scored on five of its eight first half possessions, as they took a 42-0 lead into the locker room. Ty Collins, in his first game as the lead running back, rushed for 108 yards on just 12 carries, and had two touchdowns. Wide receiver DeJuan Johnson had two catches for 94 yards. Both of Johnson’s catches went for 47-yard touchdowns in the first half. Jacob Acuna threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns, but was also picked off three times, in the victory.
