Where were YOU last Saturday? Downtown Forney was the place to be, with an estimated 5,000 visitors throughout the day coming out to the City’s first ever Brews on Bois d’Arc. With the historic block of Main Street full of kids of all ages playing pickup games of football, tag, and corn hole, the intersection of Main St. and Bois d’Arc was literally center stage where residents of all walks of life enjoyed live music throughout the day. Food trucks and tents, as well as tents for each of the participating breweries and several vendors, lined the portions of Bois d’Arc just north and south of Main Street. More children’s attractions like face painting, crafts, and a balloon artist could be found throughout the event.

The overwhelming response to this inaugural event was as unpredictable as the Texas weather on a Saturday in October. Thankfully, the skies cooperated so that families and friends were able to enjoy a clear, breezy day despite the heat of the afternoon. And the turnout for the day was so great, in fact, that it took the food vendors and breweries a little by surprise. “Vendors ran out of food; Eno’s ran out of beer, even with a backup Andrew’s truck,” said Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Myers in a Facebook post after the event. “That will improve next time.” Being the first year for this event, those involved in the planning did not quite know what to expect.
