I had two types of tears in my eyes at the end!

I think I saw the high school “game of the year” on Friday night as the North Forney Falcons battled the Corsicana Tigers at City Bank Stadium. I had tears of pride and sadness as I slowly exited the stands and made my way out of the stadium.

As my wife and I neared the field, we saw smoke, smelled burgers, caught a glimpse of A. D. Weaver grilling near the side of the end-zone, and later learned that he and his “crew” did this at each home game to feed a pre-game meal or snack to the coaches’ families, field and gate workers, security personnel and early responders, and sometimes the school administrators. Luckily, Neal and Lisa felt pity for the Themers and slipped us each a delicious burger!

I talked a moment in the walkway to Mr. Perry Ward, a “security guard,” who works the games to ensure that the crowd and students stay “under control.” I later also saw him at the bottom row of the stands in the student section.
