There’s an oft proven fact concerning matters of the heart. Opposites attract. I’m not talking about Paula Abdul and an animated cat dancing in a music video. I’m talking love. I’m talking rock ‘n roll. I’m talking Rick Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova. It’s the real life tale of a modern day beauty and the beast. Sorry, Rick. Tale as old as time, it’s been repeated throughout history. Frida Kahlo was both an artist and a beauty, unibrow and all. Diego Rivera was a brilliant artist and muralist, but aesthetically, well, he was a brilliant artist and muralist. Actress, poet, and film director Amber Tamblyn took a ride on the seemingly mismatched train in 2012 when she married comedian David Cross. And, finally, google this topic and note the constant mention of the romance between Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel. I can already hear the tapping key sound on your cell phone as you begin writing your complaint letter (aside: it is my firm belief that people who write off the cuff complaint letters from cell phones are the types of people who purposefully have the tapping key sound enabled). Simmer down. If you believe that beauty within usurps absolutely anything when seen through the eyes of someone who truly loves you, I’m with you 100%. Like all good things, however, society is against us. Still, it factors into my story today. So, hang in there.
