What is now literally a worldwide event, World Cleanup Day humbly began a little over a decade ago in the small country of Estonia. In 2008, fifty thousand residents of this northern European nation took notice of the declining state of the landscape there and responded by joining forces to clean up their homeland.
Now an annual event with participation all over the globe, World Cleanup Day 2019 was last Saturday, September 21. All across the world, millions of volunteers spent their free time cleaning up, some projects large and many projects small, to make a lasting difference in our environment. In this effort, truly every little bit helps, as everyday people do whatever it is that they can within their community to contribute to the overall goal of the project – a cleaner, healthier environment for all of us.
